Judge Sentences Spammer to Nine Years
<!-- IMAGE -->April 08, 2005 12:33 PM EDT
LEESBURG, Va. - A Virginia judge sentenced a spammer to nine years in prison Friday in the nation's first felony prosecution for sending junk e-mail, though the sentence was postponed while the case is appealed.

Loudoun County Circuit Judge Thomas Horne said that because the law targeting bulk e-mail distribution is new and raises constitutional questions, it was appropriate to defer the prison time until appeals courts rule.

A jury had recommended the nine-year prison term after convicting Jeremy Jaynes of pumping out at least 10 million e-mails a day with the help of 16 high-speed lines, the kind of Internet capacity a 1,000-employee company would need.

if you want to.

I never got any spam for about the last 5 yrs and now in the last couple of months we have been getting 2 or 3 a day. I know a lot of you get more spam, but even 2 a day is really irritating so I'm glad to see jail time for the offenders.

The judge gave him 9 years as a scare tactic to other spammers. This guy won't serve a day in jail after the appeal. The judge knows that and just wants to send a message. JMHO.

Well. yeah u know seems judges and idots some anyway put u away for little chit instead ofg etti these murders,stalkers,molesters,rapists, it sad , but guess others know now do what that guy did, and one thing i saw on tv is commercial u prob saw it i dont know well odnt remeber whole thing but it true
