Snatch blocks

My dad and I have used snatch blocks for cutting firewood, always with steel cables. Just curious what others use instead of the steel cables. Rope? Synthetic rope?
The issue is packing steel cables for long road trips. Kind of a pain.

I use a 3/8 synthetic winch line. It works really well.

If you’re using it for firewood I doubt the synthetic will hold up very well to that kind of use without fraying. I have about 5’ of chain on the end of my steel cable, helps to prevent kinks when wrapping around a log.

Not for firewood. Thinking of something that could pack easily and pull a truck out.
