Snake River catfish

We had a fun, relaxing day of catfishing yesterday. This was a birthday trip for the boy from his grandparents. He caught most of them and the highlight of the day was a triple of which he landed two. Did a catfish/crappie combo today, 12 cats in the morning and 67 crappie by noon. The crappie are getting fat and thick!

As a kid growing up in eastern Oregon we had many a fish fry with those tasty crappie. It takes a bunch to make a meal, but oh the memories.

It has got to feel good to put a youngster on some fish and watch the action. It always amazes me that crappie can live in that water with all of those freshwater sharks.

Crappie fish fry = so good. Fish fry's and bacon wrapped doves bring back a lot of good memories.

Our biggest fish this season is an 11 lb channel caught in May. I could feel 2 or 3 good-sized triangular crappie heads in it's belly.
