My dad and I are heading to Wyoming for our first Antelope hunt in unit 102. I noticed there are around 900 leftover whitetail doe tags for unit 27 (same unit as our Antelope) is it worth grabbing a whitetail doe tag to have in our pocket or are deer pretty scarce in that unit? They are cheap so I am probably gonna do it but am more than anything curious what the deer population looks like in unit 27.

I would imagine that with 900 permits left there are quite a few deer around. The kicker is that they are probably mostly on private property.

elkabtlers nailed it. Lots of WT does, but most are on private land and getting permission to access private land at this late date may be difficult. Two to three weeks from now it would probably be easier to get access as landowners will be getting done with their paying deer (buck) hunters.
