Shooting in Anaconda

I’ve talked about starting a “stories” page forever. We didn’t realize how strange it was until we moved away.

I vividly remember walking through the dark dingy basement of my friends decrepit house. His Dad, Chuck, had lost his mining job and had innumerable deer hanging in his basement that he was processing. My friend told me they were for friends and family. I was 6 or so.

The first place I ever had lobster was in a filthy apartment where all my friend had was a mattress and a pile of clothes. It was the first of the month.

The funny thing is that I can see the glow of the lights in the dark central grassy area of Mount Haggin Holmes. It was our Americana, laughing and playing tackle football until exhaustion sent us into the apartments at God knows what hour. We felt safe, and were filled with joy. Oh, and yes, there were plenty of problems solved through scraps.

I pray Mike is found in a safe manner, not for him, but for others.
I was curious on what other stories you had to share but didnt want to ask if it was a bad past you had to relive. Pretty crazy how oblivious you are to things when your a kid .

The guy is either dead by suicide, hiding under a rock, or long gone from the area.
It's not like he is a Mountain Op specimen, especially with that foot bunion.

Apparently this guy's brother is in prison for murder.

Yep, knew him too, and Philip that he stabbed to death. Philip’s wife may have been having an affair with him and found out. She’s a crazy nasty B herself. The court documents stated he was surprised it didn’t bother him to kill Philip.

Anaconda & Butte were very sketchy in the 70's. Some good hard working folks and nuts.
I wonder how I got back to Basin at times after a trip for a game or foosball tourney. Been to the Owl,or one named Owl. It was old & wood then.
Drinking was a major past time. Drugs were trending.

I’ve spent many nights and days in the Owl. I almost went there with buddies the other day to throw horse shoes… One ☝️ f my best high school buddies awesome Dad’s throws shoes there often. I’m glad it wasn’t him that died.

I was off-grid camping until last night. Nancy, the bartender, was my Mom’s friend and co-worker. She was a wonderful woman and nurse. She was simply serving coffee to regulars. Her parents owned the Mill Bar, and she grew up in it. The Mill was the roughest bar in town. I had buddies grow up with rolls of quarters to keep them company while their parents drank at night in the Mill. They couldn’t leave the stools at Pac Man.

Mr. Palm was my Mom’s friend’s ex-husband. Sad days. I’ll post an update later today after talking to my Mom and others. Sheesh… 😔

I haven’t been able to get many details. I haven’t been able to chat with my Mom other than text.

Long story short, I believe he got spooked into the aspen and willow groves along Warm Springs Creek between the Ranch Bar and Stumptown Road. This is just West of town. He was armed, but I have no details on the arrest. He is in jail in Butte, has a 2 million dollar bail, and only answered “no” to the judge when asked if he had questions. He looks ROUGH. He really is a real-life version of Gollum. Here is a comparison of 1995 and 2025.IMG_3806.jpeg
