We talked about the contraversial sherriff in another thread.... so i thought i would tell you about his latest "plan"... He wants his officers to get a thumbprint on every citation they issue after a traffic stop....He wants to do this because we have such a huge problem with identity theft [mostly illegals] ... Now he says this will be voluntary....but its sure to be a hit with the A.C.L.U. and other civil rights groups. what do ya think [good or bad] :)

BAD !!
BAD!!
BAD!!
NO
NO
NO
NO
NO
NO........................... :BLEEP:

"Hey, Boy..We're justa gonna take a little DNA sample of ya..just for our records, now.. just for......Ya know that left front tire WAS a bit under inflated...that's a safty hazzard, ya know son" :MAD

Yes sir this is a little "intrusive" this is the other side of "Sheriff Joe" the toughest sheriff in america.....His trouble is his "grandstanding" he should just shut up and run the dept/jail.

I figure if ya FUG up, a finger print is nothing. MAke sure you have the right guy. It should be a 10 day ink too so everyone at your office can see it. Guys pulled over for drunk driving should get paint on thier forehead !!!!!

If you go to jail, you shouldn't get caviar and Wine.

Joe for PRES :D

This is far less intrusive than the Patriot Act. CJ, how can you criticize Joe, and not have a bigger issue with Dubya/Ashcroft?

hey cj

I met Sheriff Joe when I was employed as a D.O for Maricopa County. He is definately a politician but he has done alot of things that i agree and disagree with.He is the most hated man in Arizona. He is just setting up to run for governor to replace Napolitano.

Its an easy answer Gunner...The patriot act is "legal legislation" and the sheriff is acting on his own [without law] to back him...Now as a top notch procecuter you should know this. :D hump

And if you have read some other quotes of mine there is alot of things i like about "Joe"...i voted for him twice. hump....But the fact is Joe cannot make laws he can only enforce them. :)

If this guy runs against Napolitano, I'll predict a landslide victory for Napolitano! No brainer there!

John i wouldn`t be so sure about that...Napolitano already worked a "deal" with Joe in the last election....She was very worried he would run and was easily favored over Matt Salmon in the Rep. primary [if he ran].. Joe bowed out and even Backed Nappy... then he got the money he wanted for his jail`s... Just my opinion though... Sheriff Joe is still mighty popular... like him or not.

Well this is a contraversial issue.....and with AZ leading the nation in auto theft/home invasions... and now I.D. theft...something should be done [ lawfully] Since a drivers licence "IS" our main identification... and we have tens of thousands of people [mostly illegals] driving with multiple fake I.D.`s...no insurance etc.... Why don`t we have a Fingerprint or retina scan on a drivers licence? I would not have a problem with it if it was used to prove that i am me. and it would have to be "foolproof" for it to work... their also would have to be a "severe" penalty for I.D. theft criminals. Any opinions?

CJCJ I think you are right that something has to be done. I think that if they can come up with some kind of Retina or Fingerprint scan on the drivers license then that would be a good idea. hump I am also thinking that when a person goes to get his DL they should have to give a finger print and put it in the system, that way Law enforcement can carry around some kind of Computer devise that takes an individuals prints and will let the officer know who they are. :D

They say getting a drivers license is a privilege and not a right, so if people do not volunteer to have their fingerprints taken, then they give up that right to have a DL .

the real question?

the real question here is have any of the arizona posters on this thread ever had to wear the Pink underwear and Socks complimentary of the MCSO ??
I have bear witness to it when i did shifts at Madison Street Jail...it was so hard to keep from laughing at the (innocent) people. you know everyone in there
proclaims their innocence....the law does say they are innocent UNTIL proven guilty.after prop 200, who nows, its a toss up.. i was considering voting for SABAN, as saban is a pro gun farmer and former law enforcement (mesa pd)

well if he isnt liked then arizona lol prob take over own law in they hands hehe anyway now why let drunk driver drive again he do it again one drunk driver hit my hubby cousin and guy went free nice cop job also hubby got hit by drunk driver cops ain doin they job very well they get they license back soon my hubby got hit guy got away uhbby lost his lisence all i got say is put em away drunk drivers hat is teach em before they kill a soul like here :BLEEP:

WHODC, they already have computers in their squad cars and they can verify if you have a DL from any state in the country. You either have it of you don't. If you don't, then tough chit if they stop you. This is the USA and not some foriegn country of long ago. What comes next, checking in everywhere you go with your eye or fingerprint to let the boys above know where you are and what you are doing?

I'm with you Elkhunter. Too much" big brother" right now. When I order stuff nowadays from Mcmaster Carr, all I have to do is give them an item # and (PO# optional). They know everything elese by the telephone# I'm calling from.
Some of guys have been talking about what we should do with drunk drivers. I was hit by one right after I got back from Wyoming this year. I thought you guys might like to know how he is going to beat a DUI in Pa.
My neighbor hit my F350 and with an extended cab 3/4 ton chevy. He totaled his truck and mine should have been. It's up to $17,000 and it's not done yet.
This guy left the scene, went to a bar about a 1/2 mile away, ordered beer and was refused service. He called the police and fireman and said everything was cleaned up and nobody was hurt so they didn't have to come. He also called his dad to come get him. He went home and lined up beer cans on the table in front of him and waited for the police. The barmaid came to the scene and told us this. We called the police again. The barmaid took the police to his house where he was arrested. After he was brought back,he said I threatened to beat him up. That's why he had to leave. He waited till all the mess was cleaned up,then said he was hurt and needed to have an ambulance called. It had been hours now and I leftwith my wife.
Well the first hearing was jan 31 and he waived it but I didn't get the message and showed up. The state trooper was there for another hearing and I asked him what he thought was going to happen. I was shocked when he told me he thought the guy was going to beat the DUI. When they got to the hospital he wouldn't let them take blood. This is the part I don't understand. He dicked around so long that by the time they got the sample it was too late.
