Sh*t our wives do...

Seriously ..... Why does it take so long for a woman to get out of the car and shut the door when you pull into a parking space?
I was just thinking this the other day. So I've noticed my wife waits for me to shut the truck off and get out then shut my door before she starts to get out. So out of curiosity I tested this theory. I started waiting a few extra seconds here and there and she still waited until I was out with my door shut.

My wife is currently in the “cannot make a decision stage”. She wants to bring things up then will 2nd guess and hem haw around. I got fed up with it so now I’ve just been doing the stuff she talks about. About 5 months ago she brought up wanting a dog, for us to hunt with and go with us since our old lab died. Then she would come up with reasons to wait, then say she wanted one. I just called a guy who had what we wanted and put a deposit down and told her. A couple weeks ago she was talking about taking the kids skiing. I listened to it for about 2 days then just booked it for this weekend. There’s been several other instances of this the past 6 months. So far it’s going about as well as every husband thinks it would. 50% of the time she’s really happy and 50% of the time she’s pissed and chews my ass. So no real difference, but I don’t have to listen to her deliberate with herself for days or weeks anymore.

I've learned to never complain,,,much. It never makes things I would possibly comment on any better. One thing that does really bug me is if she asks a question and doesn't get the answer she likes she will immediately ask again in a different way. I've learned that if I give no response to the second or third variation of the same question gets the same results as giving the wrong answer.

My favorite is the “fishing” question. She already has her mind made up on something but then asks it in a form of a question to see if you agree with her or you are wrong. She doesn’t want a real answer she just wants an answer to confirm what she already believes or knows.

When that happens I immediately bring up some expensive hunting or fish trip diverting into that fight is easier than guessing wrong on whatever question she’s asking.

Mine recently told me that when calculating the number of days I’m gone hunting/fishing in a year, you need to calculate the previous hunting season as well, because “it’s close enough to the start of the new year.”

So, in 2025 I was away from home for 10 days. But, according to her, that number was actually 17 days because I need to count my hunting trip in fall of 2024. 🤦‍♂️

My wife is currently not working (3 months unemployed since Doc retired) and enjoying time with her aging mother and our kids and grandkids. No problem. But on days I am working from home I don't need honey do lists. I do not need to get stuff off the top shelf or take the dog out. Worse case I have a serious issue to address with legal ramifications. I often think about it for a bit. Then start to type and often change it. Then she walks by looks over my shoulder and offers her opinion with 2 seconds of review and no thought of legal ramifications. Its my butt on the line. I don't need a receptionist telling me how to word an email regarding a contract, contract wording or contract resolution :) And all of a sudden I am explaining the entire thing to her and defending my position. Typically ends with her saying I did not know all that. And walking away. Never heated but good lord!

She used to track days away hunting or fishing. I offered her a resolution. I will knock that way down if we move to Alaska and I can hunt out my door. Have not heard much about days away since. It also helps that she recognizes after 30yrs that I don't miss anything important. I also don't ask permission. Fussing will not change the outcome.

Do any of you guys have murderers hanging around your homes?

I can go out to the garage or shop building, or just be outside cutting the grass and go back to the house to find the door locked.
One can only assume there is a high rate of murder in our neighborhood I have been unaware of.

On weekends I've learned not to ask my wife if she wants to do anything. Instead I let her ask the question. I've found if I ask, she will generally say she can't think of anything so I'll go outside and fire up the lawnmower or do some other project. I swear as soon as I fire up the lawnmower she is going to come outside within a few minutes to ask me if I will go with her wherever (it is more like telling me I have to go with her). Bless her heart, she is perfect for me regardless.

Yeah man my wife locks all the doors all the time and it drives me nuts. And when her folks are visiting my MIL will lock the doors and keep them locked even when we are home and doing things. If I go outside I've got to unlock the door to go out and then she locks it again behind me so when I try to go back in it is locked. Makes me want to pull my hair out but I'm sure its not a battle worth fighting.

And we live out of town in a very nice quiet neighborhood where I don't think a single crime has ever been committed.

I couldn't deal with that.
We rarely leave here together unless for a trip when we have a "sitter" hang out for a couple days. Years ago we were both off in different directions so wife says should we lock the house? We couldn't find the keys. Besides, the dogs are here and they don't take to strangers.

My wife used to bring me food all the time. And the kids. As far as murderer.
  • I have gotten up and left for work. Not even been out of the driveway and realized I forgot something and come back to a locked screen door. I can get past a locked door with a key but not a locked screen door.
  • My wife locks her car when its in the garage?
  • She also will hide my truck keys if I leave them on the counter in case someone breaks in she doesn't want them to steal my truck??
  • She had me install security cameras outside. It makes her feel safer when I am away knowing I will get the movement alert and call LE. What she hasn't figured out is that if I don't have service I don't get them and I turned them off on my phone anyhow so I don't get them to begin with
  • My wife and I have been 3 hrs into the middle of know where Alaska with nobody around. We rented a remote cabin. She locked the vehicle and tooted the horn. My pet peeve when in the mountains
    • My wife is afraid of bears. She yelled about a bear 50yds away and asked me to chase it away. Annoyed I did the only logical thing and ran out of the cabin chasing it in cowboy boots and a hat. No other clothes were worn
Me I would lock nothing and leave keys in vehicles.

Relock, our doors to keep the dogs in and save the world from instant destruction. They do know how to open doors, unfortunately.
