His M94 carbine is not for sale. Some guns he bought before background checks, a couple he did background checks. How do I legally sell these? Thanks in advance.

Depends on the state, but if there’s no back ground check needed for private party-to-private party required then just exchange of cash and a BOS (if you want one) and your GTG. FFL would play into it if shipping, but only then.

I enjoy your posts, but I'm blocking you for a while to protect my marriage. Just kidding, of course. GLWS.

Google Ai: In Colorado, if you are selling a firearm to someone who is not a licensed gun dealer, the transaction must go through a licensed firearm dealer (FFL), who will facilitate the required background check through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Which doesn't sound like I have to prove ownership by inheritance, except for the one(s) he bought w background check.

Thanks, this means I should not have to prove transfer through inheritance from my dad.
If you are confident you rightfully own the guns, then confidently sell them. If you grabbed them off a truck with sirens blazing in the background, I suggest you just keep them, lay low for awhile, and then go hunting. Who the heck “proves” ownership for a legal sale??? I have never heard of such a thing. Proofs and background checks, if required, are on the buyer, and if using an FFL, your ID just goes in their file and basically sits there.

Post here, then ship to the buyers FFL with their contact info and a copy of your DL.

Same for posting on GB.

Person to person in your state may require:

a) nothing
b) paper form to hold
c) transaction through an FFL where you both show up, you get the cash, and give the gun to the FFL who then handles the rest for the buyer.

I've purchased guns from a store in WY and had no background check to do, as I have a WY concealed carry. Did many sales person-to-person there. No paperwork at all.
Folks love person to person here...no paper trail. Works great for both parties unless weapon used in a heinous crime.🤔

When I was in Nevada my favorite little Mom and Pop store sold guns behind the counter. Along with beer, booze and poker machines. Ammo too. It was a cool place. mtmuley
