Crazy year.... most schools are closed today, many roads are washed out, and almost all the major rivers are flooded... Clark county seems to be one of the worst areas so far.

CLARK COUNTY, WISCONSIN - Governor declares a state of emergency in Clark County, which was hit by five to six inches of rain.

Near Neillsville, rushing waters fill the Black River.

It carries good-sized trees and other debris along with it.

A government worker with the Wisconsin Water Service Center measures the Black River's flow.

He says it usually discharges about a thousand cubic feet per second but today the levels reach 25-thousand cubic feet per second.

Darton Staerkel/Hydraulic Technician: "I'm seeing some high flows that we haven't seen for a long time. Some of the rivers we measured today, we haven't had this kind of flow coming in for like 40 years."

The Yellow River rises in a powerful way as well along Highway 13 and drills Pittsville.

The Pittsville baseball field is completely under water.

From the dugouts to the home run fence, filled to the brim with water
Nearby Riverside Park.. looks like a River Park.

Back to the Black River, the Jackson County Sheriff says 80 homes in Black River Falls in an area called the Grove are being evacuated.

According to the National Weather Service, the Black River could reach record levels.
It's currently at 58.78 feet. That's about 12 feet above flood stage.

It's projected to rise as much as 60-point-2 feet.. which would be an inch over the mark hit during the Upper Midwest's Great Flood of '93.

Yea it has been a crazy year. I just hope the upper third of the state got some of the rain this year as the half to completly empty lakes sure needed it.
I have a lot of frontage on the Black River. I hope a few of the fallen trees hanging in the river were washed away!!! they were getting in my way when i walk the shoreline fishing.

The local news reported Neilsville had 9.2 inches of rain in the last two days... everywhere else had 4-6 inches.

They also said the Black river should be cresting tonight at about 61 feet... 47 feet is flood stage. 62 feet is the record from 1993.

So, good chance them trees you want gone are... is your land off Columbia Road ??

Here are some more pics:

I have a feeling I will have one less canoe now... I have one pulled up into my woods about 30 yards off the river but I don't think I tied it to a tree very well. My place is 3 miles north of neillsville.

I am trying to think where that bar is in the picture. It may be hatfield

Ahh... the Hatfield bar, I forget the name - inhaled many a beer pitcher there after the long days of chasing deer around the woods years ago. Nice place, perhaps they'll find your canoe... ;)

The bar in the picture is called Trails End in Wausau, not far from where I work. It's on the Rib River / backwaters of Lake Wausau, which is part of the Wisconsin River.

The first set of pics has some from Clark County near the Black river.

The second set is mostly Wood County near Pittsville and the Yellow River.
