Few years ago, my wife in her mid sixties had hip surgery in late winter, quickly recovering and walking everyday. We backpacked 76 miles, seven days in the Bob Marshall Wilderness the following August.

Fortunately I take PT very seriously. I have already had 2 months of PT just trying to mitigate the pain while waiting on the MRI's.

Well this is the year that I'm sure I'll draw LE tags. Never thought I would hope not to draw tags but at the ripe old age of 28 this guy gets to have hip surgery in the next month or so. Going to be down until mid October if I'm able to have the surgery in May.

I feel bummer about it but at the same time it should help me in the upcoming years to be more mobile and hunt is the nasty stuff again.

I take my health pretty seriously and stay active so I hope that I'll be able to recover quickly and be able to do some shorter trips.

I will be following along to see how it goes. I’m 49 and have hip impingements on both sides. This surgery is my next option as my cartilage is still good and the doc wants to hold off on replacement. Some grinding may be happening next January.

I've had both hips replaced. My left in 2022 and my right hip one month ago. I will be hunting this fall. I'll have to skip spring bear season but by fall I should be ready to go. I think you should be fine. Ask your doctor of course and a physical therapist. I would recommend seeing a PT person for a few visits at least during your recovery.

My 70 year old sister had her second hip replaced in November and we have a 5 day trip planned in the Seven Devils in July. She assured me that she would be ready.
