I am fairly new (second year) to public land hunting. This year I have been granted a tag for the Sambar deer hunt on Florida's, St. Vincent Island. I was able to spent a little time on the island last weekend. It is very raw and primitive. I plan on bow hunting this for the 3 days, Nov 29- Dec 1.

I would like any info that anyone has from experience in hunting the Sambar on St Vincent Island.

I appreciate any help.

My dad used to go every year back in the 70's but I've never been and he hasnt been in 30 years. He always talked about how crazy things used to get weather wise

If you do a general search on google, you can actually find some good information. I have looked into it and it appears to be a very difficult hunt that requires a fair amount of pre-planning and a little bit of luck. From what I understand the sambar frequent the west side of the island.
