Fantastic fishing pics! You're making me jealous. From the looks of the fish I'd guess you're in N. California? To me salmon/steelhead fishing is a very similar quest to big game hunting.

That monster buck chinook looks to be on the Feather River. Combat fishing at its finest!

Great pics Harry. Have you thought about fly fishing? I took it up last year and am having a blast with it. It's alot like hunting.

Those are awesome pics HH. I'm waiting for my boy to get a little older before I can take him out, (Year and a half right now). With hunting taking up so much time I had to cut down on fishing to keep from making myself single. I can't wait to hear the boy ask to go fishing, and hunting of course!

Simply put, yes a steelhead is an anadromous rainbow. Most will spend 2-3 years in the salt, then motor on up to the spawing water.

Looks like steelhead fishing is done for this year.
We had 23 days of rain in March, so the rivers are now mud..|oo
Next up...Spring run salmon in April!
