RIP Greg Biffle

Just heard in the news that Greg Biffle and his entire family were killed when his plane crashed shortly after takeoff.

I always liked the way he drove and his personality while interviewed. Incredibly sad for all involved.

Sad deal. About an hour away from me. He helped fly relief supplies up into the mountains during the hurricane Helene aftermath. You never know when its your time to go.

I was never really into Nascar, but I really felt like Greg was a great guy through watching him with Cleet and the crew. Greg gave off a clear passion for life, having fun, and just being a good guy. His relief efforts after Helene were epic, doing the Lord's work without a doubt. RIP to a legend, his family, and their pilots too.

News tonight saying that it's been reported that the plane hit a light pole coming in to the airport. Not the brightest bulb in the box sometimes but I think they would have been fine without that.

I’m no pilot but the poles in the vicinity of approach should not interfere with a normal approach leaving me to surmise there was an engine issue that would not allow him to maintain altitude.

Correct. They had turned around and were coming back to the airport.

Biffle was an American hero, the disaster relief he did in the wake of Hurricane Helene for western NC was impressive. Incredibly sad situation.
