Rifle Mfr Ratings

Like in all things, there are exceptions. I have two Kimber rifles, a Classic 308 with a wood stock and a Mtn Ascent 7mm Rem Mag with the soft-touch stock, that both shoot sub 0.75 MOA with handloads. Their actions are butter smooth but I will admit the triggers could be a tiny bit crisper. That said, I am very used to them so it doesn't really bother me. Fit and finish is great. These are older rifles so perhaps his observations on declining quality correlate to rifles newer than mine or perhaps I just got lucky, twice. Hard to say. I will say that I am not a fan of where Kimber is taking their rifle line currently. I would also disagree with his evaluation of Sako as others have pointed out. Just my $0.02.

My question about his reviews are, 1) if you don't own and shoot a given manufacture a review is hearsay, 2) I also own two kimber selects and they both shoot great.

I think ypu made a key point. DD's comments in the video related to current production. And if you bought a current production and turned out fine, youre thinking "hey, what's the problem?". But if you got a boner rifle you'd be pissed, right? To me personally, Ill gladly pay whatever it takes for a custom rifle nit having to get the trigger adjusted by my local gunsmith or replace, or the action trued up, or a better barell, or whatever. My time is worth something. The aggravation of waiting on getting parts, scheduling a gunsmith, etc, for a "new" rifle.

I never understand the customer who brings a brand new rifle to the shop and wants it to go through process of blueprinting. Either buy the better rifle to begin with, or start with a used rifle since the only thing you're going to keep is the action for the most part. You will spend the same amount, sometimes even more, having somebody go through and do all the things a decent custom action already provides and you will have to have the barrel re worked after the action threads are recut, so where is the savings?

Amen!!

Just so that everybody knows, Desert Dog does not sponsor any products whatsoever. So, he's not on the take from any manufacturers. I guess he's wealthy enough he doesnt want to bias himself, and wants to maintain credibility with his viewers. He does favor American made manufacturers.

I sure like my Seekins 6.5prc...
Unfortunately, they dont make left handed rifles. I saw them for the first time at the Scheels in Great Falls. A friend in Penna bought one. Nice looking. He says it shoots great. I just bought a Tenacity Firearms leftie in 7PRC. The PRCs are really impressive. My Tenacity 7PRC is stinking accurate. After an 11-shot breakin, I tried 3 different ammo brands, 3-shot groups. After 20 shots total it shot a 9/16" group. Im shooting 1.5" groups @300 yards, yes 300. The groups arnt as good further out because my eyes arnt as good at 71 yrs old. This rifle is better than I could have ever imagined. Although I did get a 3" group at 500 yards, 4 shots. And this is with Federal Prem factory ammo!!!I put a Sctge Ti suppressor on it, and the recoilbis like that of a .223. The trigger is Trigger Tech, unbelievably smooth.

He's referring to production in the last year or so for all these rifles.

Yeah. Whatever. I shoot mostly Remington. Rugers in the mix. mtmuley
The Reminton 700LH stainless in .30-06 I bought 24 years ago is awesome. I will not buy a Remington rifle today based on the crap they are spewing out. So are my 2 Rugers bought the same time. The new Ruger M77 in .375 Ruger I just bought seems pretty darn good. Trigger is awesome. Havent shot it yet. I need to buy a scope and rings for it. Will let you know how it shoots. I bought a 2008 Ruger M77 on gunbroker 2 years ago and had to have my gunsmith adjust the 6lb trigger. It shoots just ok. Its in .25-06.
