Just got back from an east coast sea duck hunt with a couple buddies. Had a great time. Bird numbers werent great, but still fun. I think the warm weather had most birds still up North. Was crazy warm one day it was in the 60's. My 1 regret was not keeping one of the slightly damaged whitewing drakes. I really thought I would get a perfect one for taxi...didnt happen. Oh well guess I need to go back and do it again.

Few pics from the trip

Some nice looking birds in the bag, congrats. On my bucket list also, just not sure when I'll get it done.

With the exception of five I kept for mounting, we gave the rest away. So cant tell you what they taste like....id guess based on their diet, they'd taste like merganser or goldeneyes, which if properly prepared are edibile if not choice. Doubt they taste like grain fed puddleducks. Ive brined and smoked goldeneyes before and they were good. Also pepper sticks, italian sausage, jerky, etc are all good ways ive used to process.

Interesting, thanks.

I hunted seaducks out of Plymouth, MA for yrs. They actually are good table fare if prepared properly. My rig was a layout boat that I towed with a 16' tender. I would put sports in the layout boat and I was the pickup guy and yet I too got a lot of gunning. I would put out at least 8 dozen eider tollers and this would decoy all seaducks, some black ducks and brant. Great hunting and I miss the action. MTG
