Relax, Everything is Going to be Okay!

Trapping is slowly going away everywhere. It’ll slowly get voted out in every state. Trapping is not popular even with other hunters.
I agree it is fading away as a whole. However lots of guys who practice QDM around here bring in coyote trappers every late winter/ealry spring. So do a lot of duck clubs for raccoons in the spring. More so in recent years than ever before. I realize thats a small sample though.

There are people who think shooting an animal or catching a fish is stressful to the animal or fish. The same goes for any livestock. Maybe we should harvest plants only.

I appreciate their attempts, but there are a lot of references to studies without any links. I have a hard time imagining it's not stressful.
Which is why most places have check times to avoid too much time going by. But each critter varies...some dont struggle much at all until the trapper comes to check.

Personally I have more heartburn over kill sets and nontarget captures. Id like to hunt with dogs in December but when the 220s for cats show up I have to leave the dog at home. We allow ground sets here a dog can get its head in, even baiting with game bird parts...and hunting dogs have been killed where I hunt.

I dont know if ill ever have the time to dive in right, but a grandson is very into it now so well see.
