IMO people people who are well off don't need to worry about money now or for as long as they live. His policies don't affect them monetarily. Are you in that category? I'm not.

IIRC auto loan terms usually specify that you keep the vehicle properly maintained and in good working order or something to that effect. The lender wants to maximize resale value in the event of a repo. If they an't afford payments then they probably not doing proper maintenance.

prices rose under trump, then biden, then trump, those are facts the catalysts of which are fairly well understood (or should be) you can't really blame any of them individually.

yes, the foundations of a recession are oft always laid well before a president can do anything to cause or stop it.

i agree it seems things were looking to unwind to some degree no matter what but to scapegoat the actions of this administration with that excuse is being blind, perhaps willfully, to reality. you can't pour gasoline on a fire and say "well it was burning already so not my fault the whole house burned down!"

But I also said the US economy is amazing dynamic and resilient. Trump has basically said “hold my beer”. He took a business environment cheering potential for lower regulation and extension of tax cuts and turned it to “holy shit he is serious about tariffs”. Businesses are scrambling but don’t want to say much publicly.

Agreed. I think most downturns are on a fairly set cadence and there is not much that a President can do to cause or prevent them.

Then again, this tariff stuff certainly does not appear to be helping to stave it off.
