Random Hunt

I just had a dumb idea for planning a hunt. Take all of the units that are otc units in Colorado, Utah, and Idaho in a spreadsheet and have a random number generator pick the unit. The only condition I would put on it is the unit must have a minimum amount of public land.

I doubt I would actually do this, but there is something appealing about it. Instead of obsessing over success rates and statistics or knowledge for previous hunts, you’re taking whatever challenges come at you. High elevation, close to Denver, high hunter numbers, low elk population or the opposite set of benefits you don’t get to pick, it is what it is. Now can that be made into a fun and successful hunt?

Is this the dumbest idea ever or and appealing challenge?

That would be one way to see some new country. I bet you could have a good experience no mater where you end up.

This idea is intriguing to me. I know I personally obsess way too much over otc units with high pressure and low success rates. Might be liberating.
