This seems to be the year in eastern South Dakota for the top of the rabbit cycle. Not uncommon to see 4-5 of them in the yard when you come home at night. I was driving past a guy mowing at work and as he passed close to the bushes, the bunnies were running everywhere. Anybody else notice this ? Might provide for some interesting winter hunting. Just do not want to get caught hunting in town. Silly way to lose preference points. Should be plenty in the country I would think.

This is the second year I've seen this at my place. It's pretty common to see about ten in my yard in the evening.

Same thing in my area. Instead of seeing one around the fringes at dusk or early morning, I've seen multiples in my yard every day since spring began, once as many as eight of various ages. The hawks are having a heyday, as are the song dogs.

Same thing here in Central Minnesota Rabbits everywhere this year. I agree- they seem to be at or near the top of their cycle.

My buddy and I were just talking about this here in WI as well. I can’t remember ever seeing more rabbits than I have this summer.

Lots of rabbits here as well. i have a pair of owls that are nesting close. they start raising hell when me and the dog go outside. They like to sit on my starlink dish and watch the clover field.

Another mild winter and I think there'll be more rabbits in town here than people. Crazy how fast they populated.

I watched a video a few years back that showed a female rabbit can breed only an hour after giving birth........mice and rabbits are prolific . I wonder what prompts this 10 year cycle over such large area ?

They've taken over my town. Probably would outnumber the humans if the feral cat population wasn't through the roof as well.

I think this winter will be a bumper crop for rabbit hunting if that's what floats your boat

We have swamp rabbits in North Louisiana and yes, swamp rabbits is a species of cottontail rabbit. Our population has stayed about flat, from hunting them and the population of foxes running around. We would love more rabbits to eat, but here we are.
