I'm an out of stater, and after 2 years in a row not drawing including purchasing preference points I was lucky and drew off the alternate list towards the end of this season. I haven't filled my tag but I would love to fill it as antlerless over the next few weeks if possible, and it's technically allowed in some sections around Bozeman
I've driven to nearly every patchwork piece of public land in the huntable regions - most of them have the roads posted so access to some pockets that seem like good areas does not work. I've marked the sections that are going to work and will get to them.
The WMA's look like my best options, . I'm trying to get a bit creative though and would appreciate any unique ideas you may have
It feels a lot like the general tag converts to a tag that targets city / private land elk and leaves the public land elk alone, which if true, could be why this is pretty tough
