Nice work. Good on you for the salvage effort at the end. I have found fatally shot bucks laying in the field on hunts as well. It seems almost common.

Congrats to all on an excellent hunt & story. The write-up made you feel the fun.

Too bad about others leaving game & wounded game in the field. Having been in your shoes twice while deer hunting in Wyoming. Once i finished a 3x3 that someone had shot in the hams a day or so before. There was maggots in the wound and stunk like crazy. I tagged it because I killed it but was not happy about it. 2 years later and only 20 miles away a big 2x2 came limping by with an obvious broken front leg/shoulder. It was again my decision to burn my tag on someone else's blunder. Over 55 years hunting deer this has only happened two other times in Minnesota & Wisconsin but definitely a lot cheaper here.
