Right now in the Bighorn Basin, it is "unhealthy for sensitive groups". Been that way for the past week. Visibility about 5 miles.

Helped a friend with archery deer today. Was glassing up well aside from the heat waves. (Only 107 degree high today. Lol)

It was showing me around 150, now it's showing closer to 300, but it blew in up high above us so I think it's really still lower but the model is confused by the high elevation smoke. Regardless, it's definitely better than yesterday, sitting right at the edge of it, 1/2 mile away is pretty much totally clear. Lightning on the way though.

I went to the fall sports parent's meeting last night at my daughter's high school. They will practice outside as long as the AQI is 150 or below.




In the year 2000, two fires were ripping around Boulder. A couple of my buddies who were evacuated were staying at my house and it was two-a-days for football. I remember not being able to see the SkyTop pivots from the interstate on the valley floor. An AQI of 300 typically means visibility of less than one mile, and I bet it was close on that day, and we practiced in the gym.
