I need opinions on the best way to mount a New Mexico ibex. Obviously still have to actually harvest one but I think I need to make a decision now rather than in the field when I’m standing over it. I did not put full body as an option because I’d have to buy a bigger house to put it in, but it’s a free country and you’re welcome to tell me otherwise.

Monster Muleys NM sub forum and msg NMPaul for a picture of Zach's Ibex. Beautiful full body mount.

I've always thought that Ibex just look really cool as a shoulder mount. I do mostly euro mounts for our deer, elk, and pronghorn, but for an ibex, I think we would have to do a shoulder.

I've been struggling with this decision as well. My daughter took a 40" Billy on the youth hunt in December. I have the half mount cape in the freezer and euroed the skull in the meantime. Thinking I might just stick with the euro. View attachment 408124View attachment 408125View attachment 408126

If you mount it, I would get a reproduction to mount. I wish I had gone that route with my bighorn. One of my brother’s friends has two Grand Slams. He has full body mounts made with reproductions and keep the actual horns in a Euro mount. He says he just likes to hold them. I now wish I could hold mine.
