Once again, the dry weather has kept me from hunting my usual private ranch for quail opener. She doesn't want us to hunt birds there, but I could go shoot a hog. So I am busy plotting out the coordinates of the guzzlers in the Mojave National Preserve. I hope the Forestry Dept hasn't torn them all out. When it was BLM land and ranchers were leasing it, they maintained watertanks, wells, windmills, etc. and that helped us keep the guzzlers full. Now all that has been removed due to the desire to make it "natural." I don't miss the ranchers and their cattle, but I think it was stupid to remove the water sources. No deer now where there used to be at least a few. Same for birds. Even the chukar miss the water...
I'll see how it goes this weekend on the opener.
