I never had it growing up in MN, but everyone I know that grew up here in SD pairs the two.
Hell, they serve them together in schools.

Made the chili first and then the cinnamon rolls. They go together perfect in my opinion. Lots of school districts in montana serve them together. Or at least when I was younger they did.
