Until hunting season. "Honey, you know that big stack of boards you have behind the shed; I would sure like to have a potting bench?"
Turned into 3 1/2 hours of, "I need to see what you are doing so I can visualize. Hold that board up against the fence so I can see how long it will be. Now how high will it be?"

Luckily everything is cedar/redwood other than anything vertical. Should outlast us.....
