I think the over-quota harvest of the larger herds probably has no effect, the borderline legal harvest may depend on other factors, especially in smaller herds.
Well the biologist that’s responsible for the entire hunt said in a meeting that it’s just a social aspect and I’m not dumb enough to argue with him on that. He also said that up until recently when you looked at the harvest averages across 10 years for every season we went over we had a season that they didn’t fill the quota. The abundance of over harvest lately will hopefully slow down thanks to the guys putting the work in to get the season closed sooner

I think we're saying the same thing and quoting the same biologist about the over-quota harvest not making a biological difference

I disagree completely. Every year things are so different from one another. Your hunt could absolutely suck one year and be great the next. I drew a moose tag in 2020. Of course the year I get my first tag the world goes crazy. There were so many people in the woods that moose were nonexistent. 7 bulls had been killed by vehicles in my unit that year. I spent 28 days looking for a bull.

I don't think that you should loose your chance to apply for a limited entry tag just because you have drawn one in the past.
I think the key word is harvest. He didn't say if you draw a tag and can't find a bull/ram/billy you never get a tag again. He said if you harvest one. I've drawn no rare or once in a lifetime tags but I kinda agree with the idea that " if you kill one you are done for life on that species in that specific state " but I think if you draw a tag and hunt and are unsuccessful you should be able to apply again.

Maybe an influencer needs to do a podcast on how most people will never draw a tag.
Or Matzinger and WSF need to not do things like capitalizing on his second Montana ram tag to make films about hunting the Breaks that convince tons of people to apply because they might get as lucky as he did.
