The over the hill gang couldn't make the ride so it was me and the young gun this run. April 1st is opener in Alberta for Black Bear and the weather was decent so what a good excuse to hit the hills, not that putting on a hair shy of 65 miles in three days is what you'd call serious bear hunting. We spotted several across valleys got turned back a couple times on attempts because the snow was belly deep on the horses and just plain having to much fun riding to hunt to hard. Rain and a good fog day one, sunshine and steady wind day two and cloudy and windy day three. My oldest boy and right hand man turns 30 on the 7th and we spent 3 nights sampling the barley soup with a little rum. We reminisced about the last 29 years that I've had him with me 90% of the time I've spent out doors since he was born. We had to come back to town for his birthday festivities or we'd still be there.
