Non resident deer MT

My cousin from Iowa is looking to come out this next fall and hunt mule deer and antelope here in Montana. Me being a resident is not up on how the non resident stuff works. We will be hunting for deer in just a general unit. Does he just buy a general deer tag OTC then or online? Or does he just to go through a drawing? And I would assume with antelope he has to put in just like we do just as a non resident? Thanks

He should apply for it. Although in years past there have been tags leftover. He has to apply for antelope too. Deadline for deer is usually March 15 and antelope June 1.

If he wants to try and hunt a permit unit, yes. Otherwise apply for a deer combo.

So it has to be the general deer combo, theres not just a general deer application?

Deer combo has fishing and small game with it. No other way for a NR to get a general deer tag (I think)

This^^^ Only other deer opportunities would be antlerless tags or a B license drawn first of June.
