I’m not sure what that was about, so I can’t comment. But when the response is “Sorry you choose the job you did” you can see that the topic was created to be divisive. It was 100% to buy votes. Nothing new there. Bills have been piling up for as long as I can remember so also nothing new there. Still not sure what that has to do with someone turning up there nose and bragging about there pto. Especially coming from a self proclaimed union president and staunch supporter of the working middle class. I'm sure the guy who picks up an extra shift or two so he can throw his kid a birthday party at the end of the week or the waitress who is trying to make rent and tuition will gladly take even the smallest of tax credit could care less about someone "Laffin" about them. Only thing to be laffin about is how disconnected some people are from the middle class.
I said that? But when the response is “Sorry you choose the job you did”
Even less. Sounds like most OT isn't considered "eligible" due to union contracts and the like, so no portion of it is deductible at all. At the end of the day, not life changing money, but would've been nice. From my understanding if you get double time you don’t get the entire double but you still get the half portion of it.
No. Just pointing to the trend with this convo. If you get it you deserve it for being a hard working American. If you don’t get it, too bad, I guess.I said that?
I wish everybody got it . I don't make the rules.No. Just pointing to the trend with this convo. If you get it you deserve it for being a hard working American. If you don’t get it, too bad, I guess.
The way I read that was such as union contracts. Since a lot of them are double time and most dudes swinging a hammer aren’t making double timeEven less. Yes, laffin'...because people that work overtime are getting it broke off in their ass. They're doing the work of a second person and getting 50% of what that second person would be getting paid...and with typically no other benefit than the wage (no additional pay for benefits like health insurance, 401 contribution, etc.).Thats a good position to be in. Not everyone works 40 hours per week year round. Some use OT to offset other time they have off. Next time your power goes out shuffle down to the lineman truck at 1 am and tell him what a dumbfuck he is for being there.. I guess. Finally, if you're relying on OT to pay the bills, you're doing it wrong, again, IMO.
If you are working year round 40 hours a week. Then I'd tend to agree you should never use that OT for your main living expenses. Finally, if you're relying on OT to pay the bills, you're doing it wrong, again, IMO.
You do realize that's what buzz does to take his hunting time off right? Not everyone works 40 hours per week year round. Some use OT to offset other time they have off. You’re just lucky to have a job. Watch a holocaust movie if you’re feeling sorry for yourself. It will brighten your outlookEveryone wants tax free money. What about the poor stiffs that average 57 hrs/wk on a salary? They do not deserve it, I guess.
Yes and thats great. Some people dont have that option. Actually most don't. Are you laffin at them too?You do realize that's what buzz does to take his hunting time off right?
Nope. Just couldnt help but notice the irony in the statement.Yes and thats great. Some people dont have that option. Actually most don't. Are you laffin at them too?
I wasn’t gonna bring up your still working ot to bank that pto instead of having the company hire another guy and pay all the benefitsNope. Just couldnt help but notice the irony in the statement.
One person mad because one person banks their time to get paid at a later time.
Where the person complaining banks the money at the front to use at a later time.
Its different sides of the same quarter.
25 cents is 25 cents regardless of what side happens to be facing up.
Im not mad at all. Quite the opposite I wish I could turn my OT in for paid time off. Id never take an ounce of OT on my check if that were the case either. But maybe this weekend when I take the kids out for dinner when the same 70 year old waitress brings are food as every weekend. Instead of leaving here a 30 to 40%. Maybe I should laff in her face and tell her what a sucker she is for being there on a saturday and not getting double time and a half.Nope. Just couldnt help but notice the irony in the statement.

And most people wont tell the company to FOAD, hire someone else.I wasn’t gonna bring up your still working ot to bank that pto instead of having the company hire another guy and pay all the benefits
Have you ever picked up OT shifts? And most people wont tell the company to FOAD, hire someone else.
Because the companies and governments know they have people by the balls, and its cheaper to pay OT, then it is to hire a new person with benefits.
Because, like buzz pointed out, they don't pay extra PTO, health care premium, other benefits, etc for OT worked or accrued.
