No tax on overtime question

Overcast and no snow I felt like I was blind. Had one hackled up and leaving early but I think he just went and collected the female before they came in. View attachment 402562

A week ago. Didn't do any calling just an oppurtunity while walking to the garage. Both boys got to experience it though, so they were thrilled. Also a big female at least by our standards. 55 grain vmax.

I consulted my accountant and I believe you are correct, it also phases out if you make over a certain amount. Usually a program the democrats would have came up with and supported

From my Understanding we only get this for 3 years. Be nice to see a ot bill that did that is a just a flat no ot tax on the working person

Everyone wants tax free money. What about the poor stiffs that average 57 hrs/wk on a salary? They do not deserve it, I guess.
You’re right so no one should get it. I work at a utility on the craft side I get overtime they get bonuses. World isn’t fair and I pay more than my share this will potentially be the first time in 10 years I got a penny back

What you get back is entirely dependent on what you put in in the way of withholding. You know that.

I never got overtime, I never got a bonus, I never got tax free nothing. I don't know why anybody should.

My employer use to give bonuses he took it out and is adding it to our hourly wage this year. So that everyone could use take advantage of the OT tax break. Its not huge but 22% is better than a poke in the eye by far. I thought it was awfully considerate of him.

I don’t understand why you’d be mad at working class getting some of their money back that they earned. You may not get all that stuff but you know what’s tied to my overtime Christmas Eve when I leave my family to go turn people’s lights back on. My wedding anniversary when I leave to go out the power back on. Sorry you choose the job you did that

LOL we're all either bitching about or thankful for a few thousand difference in our tax burden, while the Billionaires don't pay shit.

It's a mother $*)Q!#@$ racket!

I'm ready to try a French solution.

^I did not fact-check that graphic. Our AI overlords say the difference is close but France still had higher economic disparity.

I am not mad. Just wondering what makes you more deserving than others. It is interesting how you rationalize it.

I set my taxes at single and zero with an additional 250 dollars taken out of every paycheck. Being married with 2 kids I still owed money last year and a lot of it. I had no issue paying my fair share. I’m sorry your so miserable you can’t be happy for people who are gonna get something your not

I haven't taken any OT pay on purpose for 25 years...but, what I have done for the past 25 years is banked comp time and hunted an additional 2-3 weeks straight on top of my 210 hours of annual.

I'll take that for the win, and greedily.

Laffin'...at your bonus and tax breaks.

Im not sure why? Overtime is just part of the schedule for a lot of people. Especially if there works depends on weather. I don't really care if we get the tax break or not my bills have always been paid before and always will be regardless. But if thats the way the tax code reads. Its certainly not going to change how many hours of OT I work per year.

It was to buy votes. That is why it expires when it does. Certainly everyone should cash the check, but keep in mind the bills keep piling up. Simply getting exempt and nonexempt employees fighting over the scraps isn’t going to solve anything. Maybe that was the point?

It was 100% to buy votes. Nothing new there. Bills have been piling up for as long as I can remember so also nothing new there. Still not sure what that has to do with someone turning up there nose and bragging about there pto. Especially coming from a self proclaimed union president and staunch supporter of the working middle class. I'm sure the guy who picks up an extra shift or two so he can throw his kid a birthday party at the end of the week or the waitress who is trying to make rent and tuition will gladly take even the smallest of tax credit could care less about someone "Laffin" about them. Only thing to be laffin about is how disconnected some people are from the middle class.

I feel pretty fortunate to be what I’d consider upper middle class. The lower end people may not get as much of a return as I will but I guarantee the money that they get will mean a lot more to them that what I get back will to me. It may be spare change to some of us but that spare change may buy some people room to breathe or get some debt paid off.

A lot of folks I know thought they'd be getting a check back for all the taxes they paid on OT, not getting a taxable income deduction on just the .5x portion. Also not all OT qualifies, ended up like $300 extra in the return. An unpleasant surprise for many that didn't read the fine print.

From my understanding if you get double time you don’t get the entire double but you still get the half portion of it.

Because my time is worth more than pissing it away at work.
