Hello to all,
Just returned from my NM elk hunt. This hunt was quite the adventure with lots of weather changes and climbing up and down mountains.
After two days of seeing lots of wildlife (including two bears) the weather warmed up and me and my hunting buddy decided to sit by water in the afternoons.
On Monday our decision to sit by water paid off when a herd of elk came to the tank. Including a nice 5x6. The bull gave me a broadside shot which I took.
After the shot out of my Traditions muzzleloader the elk took off. We made our way to the tank, found the blood trail and tracked the bull. He made it 200 yards and laid down.
Then as you all know, the work began. We made it to camp after midnight that day.
This was truly a great experience. Thanks to my friend who took the time off to assist me with the care of this magnificent animal.
