Got one call down to rep downing.Following up on my 5 calls pledge. I just phoned Murkowski, Daines, Hoeven, McCormick and Risch. I identified myself by name and location, asserted I am their constituent as a public land owner and someone impacted by their committee assigment. Risch's office tried to refer me back to my CO senators, I used the above bullet points to get him to take my message. @Big Fin says call are better than emails, so light 'em up!. Deepest gratitude for everyone here who speaks out, makes calls, fights this and every attempt at public land transfer.

I have received responses from Daines' and Sheehy's offices. But they are "canned" responses, likely written by some AI savvy underling and don't even address my concerns1i'm fairly annoyed by daines and sheehy. i've sent two emails to each of them and have had no response. Not even one of the canned responses. i've also started commenting on their x posts, not surprised i haven't got a response there....

Hes from utah - should be well conditioned.

Man, oh man. Talk about an Oligarch's dream...Map showing all 2-3 million acres currently up for sale in the 11 Western states: https://wilderness.maps.arcgis.com/...x.html?appid=821970f0212d46d7aa854718aac42310
I understand your frustration, Hageman has sent me the exact same canned email reply the three times I've contacted her this spring. Two of my friends have received the exact same email response as me. Do I think that is actual representation by our elected officials, no, do I think our contacting them still matters, for now I think yes.Sesquipedialian Tergiversation - The art of using long and important sounding words to say absolutely nothing.
My response from Senator Risch. Varsity level tergiversation. Of course this is an outbound only email account, so you can't simply reply with the bullshit flag.
Given that Senator Lee has the stones to stand in front of the cameras and say this does not threaten recreational access, I assume Mr Risch has drunk the Utah Kool-aid.
I feel less represented than I feel like I'm talking with someone whose occupation is to administer tobacco enimata. I wonder who much you have to contribute to get an straight, honest answer from a Senator.
I will be going back to the BHA contact site and responding to this with a little sesquipedialia of my own.
Dear Mr. Millheim:
Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding our public lands. I appreciate hearing from you.
As an Idahoan, I understand and enjoy the important benefits of our public lands and national parks. They enrich our environment, offer an abundance of beautiful landscapes, and provide an excellent place for all kinds of recreation. I take a deep interest in the conservation and maintenance of these treasured areas as well as continued access for all to visit and enjoy these great American places.
In a state like Idaho - where two-thirds of the land is owned by the federal government - we have unique insight into the impacts that overly-prescriptive, inflexible land management policies can have on people and communities, as well as local and state government. Abuse and misuse of public lands must be discouraged. I believe in Idahoans' rights to have a say in how federal lands are managed in Idaho.
Again, I value your effort to get in touch with me to share your thoughts, as many Idahoans do. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future on this or other issues.

Oddly in the sauna.I think you need to go take a cold shower.
Don’t get your hopes up! Daines is definitely a weasel maybe even a sewer rat. Daines looks out for Daines and I think he is only pro public land when there is just too much publicity surrounding the moment. In the Crazy Mountains of MT he has already shown us his true colors. Around 2016 Daines quietly asked Sonny Purdue (sec of interior at the time) to make the Yellowstone FS district stop maintenance and use of a contested but nonetheless 100 year old FS easement through a trophy ranch on the NE side of the Crazies. Purdue did as Daines asked and the ranch owners gated the easement and had ‘trespassers’ arrested with impunity (because the FS no longer visited). About 2 years ago those landowners argued that the easement had not been used or maintained and therefore the easement was nullified. At the same time the Yellowstone Club came to the Forest Service offering to trade their shitty rock and ice alpine private sections of land for the FS’s high quality lower elevation big game habitat and timberland. At this point (about 2 years ago) the ski resort real estate developers had the FS and the public by the balls as we had lost our easement to the main FS body (thanks to Steve Daines’ call to Sonny Purdue in 2016) and many of our FS sections were landlocked by the private sections owned by the real estate developers. The Mighty Mouse Forest Service of course caved to the billionaires (our de facto government) and completed the land trade which will now surely result in a luxury mountain mansion subdivision and exclusive ski resort in some of the finest unspoiled big game habitat in Montana.I was compelled to email my elected officials when this was in the house. After seeing the recent headlines, and watching Randy's passionate call to action, I sent personalized emails to everyone senator on committee.
Realizing it's likely a canned response, Daines is the only one to write back with anything substantive.
It seems like he takes a pretty firm position. Can this be interpreted to mean that he will oppose this provision, or am I missing the political weaselness?
