Just signed up for the site, and just moved to southern Colorado this summer. Real excited to get back into elk country. Have a rifle tag for the first season either sex. Anybody have any luck around Walsenburg or Trinidad area? Lots of private property from what I see.

Thats the $10k+ area you are looking at. My son drew a special youth tag down there 3 years ago and it took all of about 5 minutes until he had a nice 6X6 down
But that same bull would have run me $15k if I wanted to hunt the same place

You're right there is a lot of private property in that area but if you do your homework there is some pretty good public landwest and south of Trinidad.
