Ive had a few cds scopes for a year or two now and I just ordered a dial for my 300 win mag Tikka T3 (factory 180 ttsx). I have the vx 3i 4.5-14x50 1in mounted on it. I got this dial to hunt CA lead free and am going to get a dial for 180 factory accubonds for everywhere else.
My question is elevation. I typically hunt at either 5000ft or at sea level. I sent in that the average is 2500 but is it a waste of time? Should I order 2 different dials?
I’ve been playing around with reloading, dials, ballistics, etc the last year but I can’t seem to find a formula or rule of thumb when it comes to say sighting in at sea level then trying to determine the poi at 10000ft.
Thanks in advance

Strelok has a free version of their ballistic calculator also.
Huge listing on bullets (G1 &G7), and scope reticles.

I use too many different bullet weights & manufacturers for CDS to work with.
I stick with MOA reticles & turrets.

Strelok will also let you zero for one load, and allow you to store other loads in for elevation of different bullet weights.

Example, i can zero my 257 Roberts with 120gr Sierra HPBT GameKings.
Switch over to 100gr Ballistic Tips, shoot & record height difference to Strelok.
Then when in the field, can bring up difference to zero scope if i decide to switch back.
