New threat to 2nd A?

I just read a CNN story that said Pretti suffered a broken rib in a confrontation with federal agents a week before his death. I am not defending the agents’ actions, but I really wonder a few things — 1) did Pretti normally carry, 2) was he armed at the time of the first confrontation, and 3) if he wasn’t armed in the first confrontation, what made him decide he should take a handgun with him a week later?

Pretti was later given medication consistent with treating a broken rib, according to records reviewed by CNN.
Deep hitting reporting, they got medication records, for medicine for a broken rib.. but not actual proof of a broken rib? Did he get some ibuprofen?

Unless he’d previously been tried and found guilty of a felony crime I’m not sure any of the above would preclude someone from exercising their constitutional rights in the way that they’ve been interpreted by courts throughout the country.

I didn’t say he didn’t have a right to carry. I was just wondering why he was on that particular day.

Wasn’t the fear during the Obama administration that ATF was going to kick in doors?

This precedent should horrify folks. There is absolutely no reason for law enforcement to enter a home without a judicial warrant.
And all of the panic in Texas when the military was engaged in normal exercises. Up to a Senator claiming the president was trying to invade Texas. But people have the attention span of a gnat I guess.

Here is an example of how the games of telephone start and for some reason a vast majority of people believe it with no second guessing. Even after they announced its not true this will still be believed by some.

The old saying a friend in need is a friend indeed, applies well in this situation.

Trump is most definitely in need of allies speaking up for him after this execution in MPLS. There are no GOP politicians walking to a microphone, and defending what has gone down.

This board has many MAGA members. Usually they make their voices heard on most every issue. Now, there are crickets.

I think it will take more than this murder, and Trump showing his actual feelings toward the 2nd amendment to cause many of them to consider if they have misjudged him.

I've known Trump is a bag of shit for as long as I have known of him, close to 50 years, give or take. Initially, I considered him a colossal braggart. Then as his multiple marriages, affairs, bankruptcies, and continuous bragging, it was enough for me to know he was a lowlife braggart. You could certainly toss in bully.

He has done enormous damage to our reputation across the world. He has deliberately governed to make certain that fissures in our society widen. It is always us vs them, it is never we.

I don't know what inning the game is in, but it is not over. He will do more harm to our country before he is done.

Some
folks might have to look it up, but MN has a number of what used to be called "blue dog" democrats. And others who stop at support of more extreme GC proposals. That will never change...if they want to get re-elected.
I recall the “blue dog” democrats. I believe in most blue states they have become somewhat a relic of the past, at least in Colorado they are mostly gone, lost to the era of hyper-polarization. Run out of the party for not supporting every single anti-gun bill Everytown-Bloomberg forces through their bought legislators.

Never is a long time. I guess it depends on what you deem as extreme. I believe suspension of due process, illegal search and seizure, and “guilty until proven innocent” as extreme but YMMV.

Some might remember John Kerry goose hunting, in an appeal to gun owners. Obviously it did not work out that well.

However, if you gave Trump and Kerry a firearm, and ammo, I have little doubt which one could figure out more quickly how to make it work.

Trump has been a con man for his entire life. Name one instance where he did not stiff someone, when things got tight.

You could consider this an informal IQ test for realizing you've been conned by a con man.
Just because John Kerry knows how to operate firearms doesn’t indicate how well he will defend gun owners or if he will at all. Kerry’s stunt didn’t work well because voters saw many Dems pushing hard for increased gun regulations, particularly in urban areas of blue states. It comes off very disingenuous.

Craziest game of telephone rumors I have witnessed was the dozens of folks sharing that trailers full of antifa we're headed to Coeur d Alene for looting and rioting in 2020. Pretty sure some people still think it was true and they stopped it from happening.

People in growing numbers are believing their eyes, not what they are told by the administration when it dramatically conflicts with what they can see.

Seems hard to believe his prior encounter was due to anything other than overzealous aggressive fed behavior.

We don't know that of course, but our eyes have us expecting that.

Look at this Pic from a regional newspaper today. Someone pinned down clearly under control while being sprayed (most likely with pepper spray) directly in the face from inches away.

This is beyond excessive force. This is torture. No matter the alleged offence, escalation of force stops when the person is under control/restrained. This has big "I tortured pets and animals as a child" vibes.

This is not normal behaviour and in any normal society, there would be a press conference where they would announce that this "agent" has been put under administrative review and leave pending an investigation. But instead, you have people gunned down in the streets and everyone from the President down calling the victims "terrorists" or "mass murderers" before the bodies have even hit room temperature...

Your description of Dems there sounds like Republicsns in MN...no one who doesnt support wildly inaccurate conspiracies and beliefs can get out of a primary...dems are much more diverse and tolerant of differences.

What's extreme on GC measures varies wildly in my experience. We saw a red flag law passed here a few years ago that allows temporary separation of guns from people expressing violent desires or with mental health issues deemed a risk for violence, if a judge so orders.

There are people who think thats extreme...I dont agree.
