New threat to 2nd A?

I would tell them to do so. I would tell them to not obstruct any legal actions by law enforcement. I would tell them to record it. I would encourage them to have the company of others as witness if things go south.

I would thank them for doing what they feel is right. A young adult can piss away time and energy in ways that add no value to their life experience. Sticking their neck out for something they believe in will add value to their life experiences, whether I support that belief or not.

The odds of them getting hurt are far less than many of their other daily activities. Go for it.
I think this is great advice. The disconnect i have and this is just my opinion and in no way am I saying ICE is God in this whole thing. I wasnt there for the shooting but I would not be surprised if the agent who shot first is charged and convicted of negligent manslaughter and i wouldnt disagree if all the bodycam footage and other evidence continues to point that way. I just dont believe any of this is natural or organic in anyway what's happening on both sides is exactly what they want to happen. They have said it with their rhetoric over and over again and there is a large portion of the population that takes the bait hook line and sinker and now two people have needlessly been killed. And instead of taking a step back and thinking holy shit these people are out of control and I should separate myself from this nonsense you instead stoke the flames for the people wanting all this to go down for whatever end they desire. People need to stop feeding off the politicians and media teet and look at things from the POV who is benefitting if I join ICE or who is benefitting if I join the "resistance" and get my head caved in by a government issued projectile. Ill tell you its sure not you or the everyday American citizen. Stop being a player in their effed up games.

There’s also the fact that many members of this administration supported Kyle Rittenhouse. The hypocrisy is crazy.
I posted in the other thread about a ringleader of the January 6th riot..convicted of assaulting a capitol police officer with a baseball bat and other crimes...

And Trump pardoned him.

He showed up in MPls last week announcing his intent to stir up trouble and he surely did. Big taste if his own medicine, barely escaped.

I agree with some of what you’re saying. Emphasis on some. I think about it like this. If I was tasked with finding and deporting illegal aliens from Minneapolis, though ICE. I would’ve contacted local law enforcement, coordinated planning with them, developed a list of targets and cooperatively conducted sting operations (likely at night) for known and verified targets.

Instead we have guys who were seemingly hired off the street, running around in masks in broad daylight in blue jeans and asics, harassing random people for their papers, chasing people, seizing and detaining people with no warrant, no due process, some of this is being done to off duty police officers.

Which plan would you pick if you wanted civil unrest?

That would require a departure from "sanctuary city" type policies that prevent the local police/sheriffs from contacting ICE. Hilariously disappointing - but it seems lost on many (here and elsewhere) that this is a major contribution to the entire issue.

You can't cooperate with departments that openly have policies against cooperation.

"Minnesota’s Democratic attorney general, Keith Ellison, issued an advisory opinion on the issue last February, which found that local officials cannot keep inmates in custody based on a request from ICE if they are otherwise eligible for release."

"The state’s largest jail, in Minneapolis, is run by the Hennepin County sheriff’s office. For many years, officials at the jail worked closely with immigration agents, providing them a small office at the facility and allowing them to interview immigrants in custody.
That partnership ended after Rich Stanek, a former Hennepin County sheriff who ran the jail for 12 years, was voted out of office in 2018. His successor, Dave Hutchinson, gradually ceased sharing information with ICE, meeting a campaign promise he had made.
Mr. Hutchinson contended that close cooperation between local law enforcement and ICE undermined public safety because it made undocumented immigrants reluctant to report crimes. Mr. Stanek maintained that his approach had kept dangerous criminals from being released from custody back onto the streets.
“Our job is to keep communities safe,” Mr. Stanek said. “That was, pure and simple, keeping communities safe.”
The newer policy — to refrain from cooperating with ICE — has continued since the 2022 election of the current sheriff, Dawanna Witt. Sheriff Witt declined a request for an interview."
