Just a heads up, area 10 is on fire. Harrison pass road is closed. Latest update I saw was 17000 acres at 10% containment. Looks like the fire is heading NE towards Green mtn.

The area south of Harrison Pass burned in the late 70's. We've been hunting there since the early 80's and there are still good numbers of deer using the area. Also elk have started moving into the area as well. It has very slowly been growing back over the last 35+ years.
The area to the north of Harrison Pass at least on the eastern side is very thick P&J country that has very little feed so the fire might just open things up for the future.
I do hope they get it under control before it reaches Green Mtn. though. Green mtn. has some awesome deer and elk habitat and it would be a shame to loose it for years to come.
