I thinking of bringing my son to Nebraska to turkey hunt for his high school graduation present this year. My question is he graduates the 11th of May. Is that too late, or are they still gobbling decent. Here in Missouri it’s borderline but doable to get in on some gobbling. He has Easter break from school in April and we could come out then, and maybe he could miss a couple extra days of school. Any advice is appreciated. Looking at the Valentine area and west to pine bluff. Looking for a merriams.

They’ll still be gobbling and the post spawn walleye fishing is good. One of my favorite weekends to be outside in that area of the state is always Mother’s Day weekend. Turkeys, walleye, morels. You guys can stay busy all day.

Finally getting around to posting a recap. We had a great time. Saw bird's although not as many gobbles as I thought it would be nor as many birds. Fun was had. I would definitely do it again, according to the locals there was more pressure on the public land this year because most of the ranches that allowed access closed it off this year due to having services hired to thin the coyote population.

Good work. Some of my favorite turkey memories are doubling on jakes with my brother or friends.
