I shot a whole lot of reds while chasing one elusive foxy in the grasslands south of Fargo. I never did great, but enjoyed the late season hunts a lot. February is sometimes the best time to be out!

Yep! Those random warm spells in february can be good for chasing rabbits, now squirrels can be added to the mix. There’s a decent amount of fox squirrels around the hastings area.

Since moving to ND, from MN, I found it odd that the state regulates squirrels but for rabbits are a free-for-all. No squirrels besides the ones in town out here on the Bakken from what I’ve seen.

I agree, but I think it happens a little later in the Winter. At least in the northern Midwest, I believe it is a product of the snow line and how it influences raptor migration southward.

You mentioned the Bakken. I have to ask whereabouts? We try and hit up the bakken for waterfowl for a week each fall.
