This is essentially a done deal, we’re just waiting for some i’s to be dotted and t’s to be crossed before we go public. May take a couple more weeks depending on some administrative boxes that need to be checked. But I wanted to ensure the HT community was notified and up to date. Timing should work out so a full write up is on NAPF Newsletter #2 in August.
None of this would be possible without the support we’ve received from this community. So this is just as much an HT accomplishment as it is a NAPF accomplishment. Grateful for all of you and extremely proud of our Board.

Just want to update the group. No hang ups or delays, things seem to be on schedule. However, we have decided to wait until the project work is 100% completed before we make a public announcement. Just want to make sure it's all buttoned up before announcing in the event something unexpected pops up. But landowner agreements have been signed and much of the procedural/admin work has been completed. On the ground work will begin soon. Sorry for the delay in announcing details and such.

Sorry for the delay folks, my fall got away from me and it's been a struggle to keep up.
Some brief details for those of you who are not receiving the members only NAPF newsletter:
NAPF partnered with Montana FWP, Montana Outdoor Legacy Foundation, Mule Deer Foundation, and Wyoming Migration Initiative to fund a 10.5 mile fence modification along US Hwy 212 (SE Montana) that was impeding North/South pronghorn movements. This corridor was identified through two completely separate and independent GPS collar projects (one in MT and one in WY).
The fence work is about half done. Fencing contractor work is taking a little longer than anticipated due to some scheduling conflicts and overlap with other work obligations. The hope is to finish this calendar year, but depending on weather that may get pushed out.
As soon as work is done, post monitoring will begin to capture positive impacts of fence work. We know one animal was traveling 60 miles and getting stuck in this corridor. So, it will be good to see this addressed.
On a related note, this work has attracted some other partners and I am working to pull together a coalition to expand this work on multiple fronts in this region of SE Montana and NE Wyoming. The goal will be A LOT of fence work, research, and some virtual fencing. Hopefully big things are in store for this region of pronghorn country. We've been blown away by the support from other groups and from the interest in getting more focus in this region. Hopefully we can carry this momentum forward and rack up a lot wins for pronghorn in this region.
We also have a couple other projects and funding opportunities in the works, but still waiting for things to get finalized.
MTFWP is working up some media on this 212 project, not sure when that will get finished or be released. But I will certainly share here when it's available.

Nice to hear. Virtual fencing is really taking off the last couple years, and we have multiple partners using it to help address several conservation issues. Seems like a high-impact tool for pronghorn migration in particular. Best of luck on the continuing work!
