Definitely a teenage mutant ninja turtle.
One of you hit it, it's a wood turtle. I wish my kid was up there that weekend. He would have got a kick of of this guy. They are found mostly in a few river basins in Wisconsin. Overharvest for the pet industry pushed them to recome rare to find because they wintered in community burrows and if a guy found a hole he could score many turtles. They say it is the smartest turtle there is and will compete with a rat in the "maze test" able to remember its way around a maze very well.
Pet owners say they remember what room in a house the food and water is and they can be free roamers in a house, although it is illegal to have them now.
