Name that cartridge!

@p_ham It is a 38 short Colt. My dad wore a Webly Mark IV as his sidearm during the Korean conflict. I feel a little weird holding it, knowing that it was responsible for taking out enemy combatants.
This shows how close the 38 short colt and 38 s&w are.

I'll play: this military cartridge was designed pre-World War II and remains in active, but limited, service to this day. A .308 Winchester on top for comparison.

7.62x54r?
Can't tell if it's rimmed or not in the pic.
Not rimmed. Cartridge was most commonly used in World War II in a bolt action rifle that lacked a safety and features a distinctive rear swept bolt handle. Cartridge also saw extensive service following World War II in Indochina, Algeria and Egypt.
