My Grinder Sucks - Grinder reviews

I have a Walton’s #12 (.75 hp). Wife got it for me for Father’s Day last year (I buy her nice stuff, she buys me nice stuff). I don’t have a ton of complaints thus far, with the exception of the price. I believe they were running a sale at the time because the invoice says $450ish shipped including tax and now I see the website indicates the base price is $549. Tariffs prob playing a role as well.

Anyway, a few complaints: it’s huge, and heavy. Want to say it weighs close to 40lbs. Also didn’t like that the foot pedal is an add-on purchase. I don’t have one yet but will prob pick one up this year. It’d also pretty loud, as far as grinders go.

That said, manufacturer says it can do 7 lb an hour. I think I did 40-50 lbs straight last season without any shutdowns or overheating. So I didn’t exactly put it through its paces, but also didn’t have any obvious issues that would cause concern.

Bought the LEM #12 several years ago and upgraded to the newer version of the same grinder a couple years ago. I ALWAYS recommend a minimum of a #12 grinder when asked. There is no such thing as overkill when it comes to grinding. Anything under a #12 takes longer and adds more heat to the product being ground. I grind about 100 pounds of meat once a year but use the same grinder head to run a tomato mill for processing tomatoes into tomato sauce every year.
