My 2026 Iowa season

Started my 2026 season off with a little ice fishing. Just a few bluegills this morning further north. Tried an area closer to the cabin this afternoon but no bites at all.

I forgot to add that i did get just a few keepers the following day.

Looking forward to app season coming up, I'm planning on another elk hunt in Colorado. Should be able to draw with no points, if not trying a cow tag for second choice in this specific unit. Will be close to Denver so I can hunt with my son.

Already starting the workout.


Drove up to the cabin today and decided on a quick hike. About 2.5 miles round trip to Paint Rock lookout.

Already dreaming about hunting season. Im excited about colorado apps in another month. Putting in for elk muzzy and points for other stuff.

Thinking about gear, I've been unhappy with packing my turkey lounger chair around because it's awkward ang heavy. Happened to have a scheels gift card so ordered something new.



Under 5 lbs and folds up compact. Hopefully it's comfortable.

I had a friend fall asleep while turkey hunting sitting on the ground. Discharged his shotgun between his feet.
Talk about an eye opener. Packed up his gear and drove 5 hrs home.

He sold the shotgun a week later,... I didnt say much.

I have fallen asleep while turkey hunting, woke up to him gobbling 15 yards away... pulled up and shot him.
