The CIMG0026 firestarter(?). How does that work? That thin metal piece a sort of clip to hold the tin closed/secure? Or is that some form of flint scratching device?

How's it work?

It's a brass tin, top & bottom with a hole center top. Placed in the fire with cotton cloth inside. The cloth becomes char cloth through the heating process. A sample amount of tinder is kept with the kit as well as a small flint and steel. Striking the flint and steel producing a spark on the char cloth a small hot spot grows tinder is added & softly blowing on the ash will produce a flame in the palm of your hand.

I restored this 1718 French fowler. Someone cut the front of the stock off and I needed toreplace the cap lock with original style flintlock. Ploished it up a bit.

If you like curly maple, this one has some. Just bought this for pretty small money. It has a Bill Large barrel.

The third one down is a Plains Rifle with Bill Large barrel. 55cal.

I found it at gun show, way in the back of a rack full of black plastic rifles.

I'm embarrassed at how little I paid for it.

It took every ounce of concentration I posessed to keep my poker face in order, while negotiating the price.
