MUDRANGER1 has been HACKED!

If any reminder is needed as to why Hunt Talk is on thin ice as far as me keeping it going, issues like this are a big part of the reason why. I'm in Oregon, at a dinner, and when I got out, my phone and email was on meltdown.

By that time, Matthew had taken care of much of it. Now I get to spend the night, working from a hotel super low wifi connection, trying to see if that IP address, or anything similar exists in any other recent logins.

The admin crew who we use for the software is also working on it. Likely another heavy invoice for those services.

Sorry to all who had to endure this.

Randy
If you ever need to make a part of this forum for “members-only jacket wearers and personal steins“, I’ll flip ya a few bucks a month.

Like another HTer said, maybe you should consider premium memberships. That don't need to be expensive as you would lose us retired dudes on limited income but a few dollars subscription would at least validate most of the members fairly solid.

I also have a degree in computer science and ran a number of forums over the years. If you ever need help without paying an arm and a leg, I would agree to help at little to virtually nothing. I get enough in return with the comraderie and friendships I formed over the years through this forum. The antelope hunt I am doing this year is going to feature a few HTers coming to hunt with me and that has me almost as eager to hunt as my 2020 elk hunt was.

Sorry it was such a crappy night for you. I can see how this endeavor is a huge hassle, but then the last two weeks I’ve been struck yet again by the incredible value in this community with all of the near real-time info from the legislative session. I hope the positives still outweigh the negatives.

I would also pay a small fee if it meant reduced hassles and maintaining the utility of what you’ve built here to further information and advocacy. Or maybe a fund drive like Montana PBS and Wikipedia do annually?

We are all thankful for what you do to keep this site up and running!

I’m still not sure he was hacked, waiting for mudranger to come back and tell us how he woke up in a ditch with a terrible headache. How it all started while he was visiting Russia and attended a rave, met a girl who convinced him to mix x and viagra.

Better than waking up in a motel bathtub full of ice and a missing organ.
