I shoot a .270 and switched over to 130 gr Barnes this year for my mountain goat, antelope, and deer round, but I'm a little worried it may be too light for elk. In the past I used 150 gr bullets for elk, which seemed to do the trick just fine. I really don't want to sight in another round, but will do so if I need to. Thoughts?

130gr Barnes will probably out-penetrate just about any 150gr lead bullet.

Don't worry about it

I've killed a couple of handfuls of elk with a .270 and 130 grain bullets. Nothing fancy like those Barnes, mostly just Core-lokts (hanging my head in shame....).

I'm sure the 130 barnes will work fine. I shot my deer with a 100gn Barnes tsx this year. Entrance shoulder blade, exit low on opposite side. Wish I would have taken more pics and looked into the bullet path a bit more. It did the job and would work on elk I'm sure but I do worry about close range shots. Will post the pics I took on my deer post in a bit.
