I went to see Alexander last weekend...first movie I've been to in a while. Being a shamefully normal heterosexual man, I expected it to be a movie about one of the greatest leaders of ancient times, his major battles, and how he conquered the entire known world. You know, that Macedonian guy you heard about in high school.

Oops, my bad! It was actually a movie about this pretty, gay guy who spent a lot of time mooning after his childhood friend, hiding from his mommy, and hooking up with some Persian dancer who almost looked like a woman. And, oh yeah, somewhere in there he might have conquered a few countries or something. Throw in Colin Farrell's lame Irish accent (was that supposed to sound Greek, Colin?) and you can imagine my reaction to the total package. |oo |oo |oo

Overall I'd have to give this one a Moosie rating of 2 Spikes out of 5.

dgibson, Yeah I was warned that he threw his spear in the wrong places! We went to see National Treasure, that was a pretty good flick: 4 Moose Heads for that one.

For "FUNNY" and Family entertaining Moosie would give 5 Spikes to ELF

thanx for the Heads up on "Alexander"

And I've yetto See National treasure.

(Funny thing about this thread is I have wanted to open up a Movie Section on this board and Review some Movies. Although I don't watch alot at the theaters, we Watch and own alot at home. If this thread takes Off We can Do just that :D )

I seen the previews of Alexander on TV, and figured it was a gay day parade. Colin Farells Irish Accent was evident there, and a blond haired greek???

The idea that Alexander was bisexual is supposedly historically accurate. I have no problem believing though that Oliver Stone made a way bigger deal out of it than was necessary though. There are historical accounts that he boinked his Mom too. Did Stone throw that in as well? I am NOT a Colin Farrell fan, so this movie wasn't exactly on my list anyway. Farrell carrying an epic historical flick of any kind is just laughable. A flick about drunk brawling soccer fans maybe.

I was warned about Alexander also. I am big into historical based movies, but I like more of the battles (i.e. Braveheart, Patriot, etc.)

National Treasure was pretty good. I will be adding that one to my collection.

Just about anything with ol Mel is pretty good, except Conspirosy Theory (MSPL). I have tried to understand that movie, but it stinks. Now Braveheart is a solid movie, but to be drawn and quartered!!!!!!!!!!

Mojave, that's it in a nutshell. You would reasonably expect such a movie to be about the conquests of Alexander, to which his sexual preferences were relatively insignificant. But instead, it was a movie about his sexual preferences to which his conquests were relatively insignificant. :D

As for boinking his mom, well, if my mom were Angelina Jolie.... ;)

Last night I went to see Christmas with the Kranks. It was ok. Good for the holiday spirit but seamed like a cross of Home Alone and The Santa Clause. The most disapointing thing to see was WTF happend to Jamie Lee Curtis?? I have always had the hots for her but man she has went way down the last few years. A long ways from when she does that pole dance in that movie with Arnold Swar.. I give it a 3 out of 5.

This past weekend I took my Girlfreinds son to see Sponge Bob. Now I will admit, I can sit and watch ol square pants for hours with my daughter. Patrick cracks me the hell up but this movie I would say was the biggest disapointment of the year so far. I had a hard time even staying awake. If you havent already I wouldnt waste your money. .5 out of 5.

On the list of soon to see is Elf, Spiderman 2.

As for renters, the biggest suprise to me was Van Helsing. It wasnt what I expected, it was even better. A little far out there but if you can let your imagination go a bit, it is absolutly awesome. I give it a 4.5 out of 5. A tad more T&A and it would have gotten a 5 hehehe. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays though so go figure.

Moosie, I think a movie and video thread would be a great idea. Noone said just new movies had to be reviewd, one could even talk about old time favorites and stuff too. Sounds like your family is like mine, I have more DVD's than I do loaded ammo right now.

I agree with dgibson's last description of Alexander. I also thought the tension between Phillip and Alexander was over played.

I saw Blade Trinity last night...I'll give it 3 out of 5 spikes. Action and fight scenes were pretty good. The villian was pretty good. Whistlers daughter is HOT!

I need to see Elf. Dodgeball is a classic.

Last 3 movies (I think) I went to the theatre was the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Just waiting for the extended version DVD and then it is lights out for a day.

Havent watched many DVD rentals lately.

THe Cronicles of Riddick is okay. 3 1/2 out of 5
Spiderman 2 was interesting and fine. Not as much action as I thougt it would have buy it still gets 4 out of 5

I forgot to say, like moosie, thanks for the heads up on Alexander. I wanted to see it but have no desire to now. Rather its historicaly correct or not I dont care. Hollywood was so much better before the fag revolution. The movie sounds to me like another cry of a look at us BP's movie from hollywood. Just like HBO, their drama's they do IE: 6 feet under, OZ, that Angels one, ect., seem to always have somthing to do with queers. So there are gay men out there, so what!! We dont need it shoved down our and our kids throats every 5 minutes.

And also National Treasure is also on the soon to see list.

So there are gay men out there, so what!! We dont need it shoved down our and our kids throats every 5 minutes. UH, yeah your right....good choice of words. :D

Last movie I saw was "Ray"
Very good, five out of five moosie heads.
If you are a Ray Charles fan, you'll want to see it twice.
Jamie Fox has got to be the front runner for best actor.

Sako, sounds like you have a nice phobia going on there! Don't worry being gay's not contagious! :D
