Looking to take my shorthair on an out of state trip to get her on wild pheasants. All we have in Pa is stocked birds. I think i narrowed it down to these 2 states. Anybody have any opinions or advice on which state i should go to? thoughts? thanks

I'm not sure about Montana but being a local SD guy, I'd say it's tough not to come here when there's 1 million plus birds shot on a yearly basis. It's been very very wet this year, hopefully it doesn't kill any chicks.

SD or ND way before MT. The best pheasant hunting I’ve seen in the farthest most remote reaches of MT are still only average compared to what I’ve seen in SD and ND

As a South Dakotan, I'd honestly say North Dakota (if you care at all about not having to race other hunters to public spots that have been walked every day since the season started). At least where I'm at in the central part of the state, you can't swing a dead cat from mid October through December without hitting 3 more bird hunters. I've hunted ND a fair amount in my younger years. Pheasants, sharpies, and huns, and not near as many hunters.
